I stumbled on this impossible-to-find record in a small local vinyl store. A really good listen. The Strange Games… series which began in the summer of 1997, has supplied us with a blueprint for modern R&B and rap music. It joins the dots between 70s soul, 80s rare groove and 90s mass market hip hop. This album includes a variety of tracks, both classic dance-floor fillers as well as lesser known delights. This collection is the first two discs in the series, plus a mixed disc by dj spinna.

I'm sorry...I recieved an email from the DMCA telling me some of my links were being deleted due to copyright infringement. Unfortunately re-upping links would cause further trouble resulting in more dire actions to be taken on their behalf.

P.S. I've seen somewhere online (or on emule) one cd of this five disc series floats around

Hmm...I'm curious, did spinna come after you, because he is the one that compiled the compilation?

Or did the record label of one of the songs come after you?\

Anyway, you are doing good stuff with this site.

peace...breakbeat, soul and house music rule

Good question. I am unsure who exactly reported the issue to both the DMCA and rapidshare.

It seems right after I posted the "Keep Funk Alive" mixtape by Dj Chak, the rapidshare links were reported on that particular post plus the ones on four or five of the previous posts. Looks like someone had just started going through the blog with the intention of reporting all links, but for some reason quit after reporting only a few.

However, DMCA recieved a different complaint, one involving the Madvillainy album and the Jay Dilla stuff. They in turn reported the incident to an organization called Chilling Effects and also to Google. The incident notice can be viewed here: http://www.chillingeffects.org/notice.cgi?sID=3696

The music I link is extremely rare (imports/out of press/limited edition)...even music giant HMV can't order most of it. The stuff I've uploaded is random eclectic vinyl, tapes, or cds I've dug for in used vinyl/cd joints, or have (by good luck) found laying around.

If there is an issue with any music I upload, I will be very happy to take action and remove links, I can respect that still.

I'm glad to hear some people are enjoying the work I've done looking out, and more especially, the amazing work of these talented artists. And if you feel encouraged to, go out and buy it! I own a hard copy of everything you see here (even though most album proceeds here won't go to the artists...but thats a another story)
