Born in the mid 70’s as a soundtrack to block parties in New York, it spread across America and then the world, constantly evolving & reinventing itself. From Afrika Bambaataa’s Zulu Nation to gansta rap, hip hop has been used as party music and as protest music, to provoke and to enlighten. Today it is a multi-million-pound industry that dominates record sales worldwide, and influences international fashion, language and youth culture.
